Dixon Transport significantly reduces its emissions through investment in green sustainability strategy

With a key focus to become more sustainable and energy efficient, Dixon Transport is continuously making changes across the company to ensure it can continue to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. Increasing the use of biofuels is a key part of our Green strategy.

We are continuously maximising our sustainability and energy efficient changes.

The Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) Scheme administered by the Department of Transport (UK) every three months outlines the emission savings being made. Dixon Transport has almost doubled its efforts since the beginning of the year – an achievement that we are really proud of!

The increase can be attributed to the company’s increased investment in CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) vehicles, increasing from 4 at the beginning of 2020 to 10 by April 2020. The CNG vehicles lower carbon emissions by 27% over diesel power trucks and helps to safeguard our environment in a sustainable way.

Dixon Transport’s latest RTFO Certification from April to July showed a significant increase in emission savings and almost doubled the weight of approved biomethane compared to the first three months of the year.

During the period of 1 Jan 2020 to 31 March 2020 Dixon Transport received 48,626.81 kg of RTFO approved biomethane, derived from waste feedstock. This compares to the increase of 89,933.51 kg of RTFO approved biomethane in the period of 1 April 2020 to 30 June 2020. It also had a greenhouse gas emissions savings of 86.2% from Jan – March and a saving of 81.6% in April to June.

Dixon Transport CEO, Michael Dixon said ‘It’s a great sign to see that our continuous efforts across the company to reduce our emissions and become more sustainable is making such a significant difference to our carbon footprint. We are proud of our achievements and continue to have sustainability at the forefront of all our decisions.
