Dublin, 1 July 2024 – Dixon, a leading provider of temperature-controlled logistics solutions, announced the opening of its new automated, net-zero energy warehouse. Located in FoodCentral, Dublin, just 5 minutes from Dublin Airport and 15 minutes from Dublin Port, this €35m investment marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainable growth.
The new warehouse facility will be powered by a 760 kw solar panel array, generating enough energy to power the entire warehouse, Dixon’s electric truck fleet and other electric vehicles. The solar capacity was engineered to exceed the designed power consumption of the warehouse, ensuring that the warehouse operates to a net zero-energy position with any surplus energy being transferred to the local electricity grid. The innovative automated truck and trailer wash facilities, will use harvested rainwater to minimize water usage.
The new warehouse will offer temperature-controlled and GDP certified space available for +2° – +20°C chilled storage and +15° – +25°C ambient storage providing an integrated low-carbon logistics solution for Dixon’s food, pharmaceutical and retail customers.
Michael Dixon, Managing Director stated, “We are very excited about our new automated warehouse which really demonstrates our commitment to innovation and sustainable growth. This investment allows us to offer a low-carbon and sustainable logistics solution to our customers and sets up the business for the next stage of our growth ambitions”.
Dixon is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions through innovation and sustainable investment in fleet electrification, zero-emission operations, and sustainable fuels for all transport modes.
